Network Engineer (24-month Contract) Cathay Pacific Digital & Information Technology Information Technology Department Contract Hong Kong SAR (China) Application deadline: 17 Sep 2026 Role Introduction Drive the design, delivery, support, and continual improvement of Cathay's network infrastructure, helping ensure critical technology platforms are secure, reliable, and aligned with business needs. Working within the Digital Workplace & Network team, you'll apply deep technical expertise across network engineering, cloud connectivity, security, change management, and operational support while contributing to the evolution of the broader infrastructure landscape.
You'll work across both strategic and operational initiatives, partnering with solution architects, IT strategy teams, project managers, vendors, and technology specialists to deliver infrastructure solutions throughout their lifecycle. From supporting multi-cloud environments and cloud-to-premise connectivity to managing network changes, resolving incidents, and identifying opportunities for innovation, you'll help balance technical excellence with business outcomes.
Your work will directly support the technology foundations that enable Cathay's people, operations, and customers to stay connected, contributing to a wider mission of moving people forward in life.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, support, and maintain network infrastructure platforms in an efficient and cost-effective manner Develop and contribute to infrastructure engineering lifecycle documentation, including component versioning and patch management decisions Lead the technical implementation of infrastructure solutions and manage associated changes throughout the lifecycle Evaluate and apply emerging technologies to deliver innovative infrastructure capabilities that support business objectives Track infrastructure requirements and manage technical dependencies, risks, assumptions, issues, and changes across project delivery activities Resolve operational incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement improvements to enhance platform stability and performance Plan and manage business-as-usual infrastructure changes to maintain a high level of service and change success Collaborate with architects, strategy teams, project managers, vendors, and other technology domains to deliver solutions aligned with Cathay's technology roadmap Communicate infrastructure designs, recommendations, trade-offs, and technical guidance clearly to stakeholders and IT colleagues Gather, analyse, and refine infrastructure requirements while staying informed of corporate priorities and emerging industry developments
Requirements
Degree qualification in a technical discipline, with a minimum of 6 years of Information Technology (IT) experience, including at least 3 years in IT infrastructure Proven experience working within a complex IT infrastructure environment, with professional competency in at least one technical specialisation and a broad understanding of current and emerging technologies Strong communication, presentation, analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders Demonstrated ability to understand business and end-user needs, manage expectations, embrace change, align with organisational strategy, and leverage technology to improve efficiency and support innovation Solid hands-on experience in multi-cloud environments, including Multi-VRF, dynamic routing, cloud networking, cloud network security groups, and connectivity between cloud and on-premise environments
Experience
managing Layer 4 to Layer 7 (L4-L7) technologies, including cloud-based and traditional load balancers, firewalls, and network security solutions
Experience
with Virtual Private Network (VPN) technologies, including remote access, site-to-site VPN, and Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN), as well as troubleshooting both Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) environments Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN), two-factor authentication, network hardening, security scanning, data centre operations, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and host-based firewall technologies
Experience
with Network Access Control (NAC), Authentication, Authorisation and Accounting (AAA) frameworks, Wi-Fi controller solutions, and hands-on routing and switching technologies Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and/or AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty certification is preferred, and availability to provide 24/7 support when required is essential Personal & Application Information Cathay Pacific is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
